Environmental Protection
As a financial institution, the Bank’s main types of waste include paper, consumables and obsolete office equipment. To reduce paper consumption in its administrative processes, the Bank has used the Documentolog electronic document management system since 2014. The system has enabled the Bank to automate its entire internal document workflow and digitise such business processes as document preparation, coordination, review and approval, monitoring of execution, distribution, retrieval and archiving.
In recent years, the Bank has also actively promoted reduced printing and double-sided printing practices. Meetings of collegial bodies and working groups are increasingly held in a digital format without the use of paper, with materials displayed on LED screens and tablets. These measures contribute to forest and tree conservation and support efforts to address global environmental challenges.
As a result, in 2025 the Bank reduced its paper consumption by 8% compared with 2024. The number of paper reams used decreased from 23,100 in 2024 to 21,252 in 2025.
By the nature of its activity, the Bank does not exert a direct significant impact on the environment. The main resources consumed by the Bank are electricity, thermal energy, and water. The Bank applies principles and methods of rational resource use that best ensure the prevention of adverse impacts on the environment. The Bank does not pay for emissions into the environment, since the Bank is an operator of Category IV facilities, which exert minimal negative impact on the environment.
At the same time, measures aimed at increasing the level of environmental awareness of employees, as well as on compliance with safety techniques, including fire safety, are conducted in the Bank on a regular basis. On an annual basis, training of the Bank's employees on environmental policy, rational use of energy, water, and other natural resources is conducted.
The Bank constantly promotes environmental values and a responsible lifestyle among its employees, thanks to which the Bank's employees were able to learn in more detail about the importance of mandatory disconnection of computers and other electrical appliances from power sources after finishing the working day, turning off lights after finishing the working day, about the principles and importance of waste sorting, and together learned to develop useful habits by refusing disposable tableware, which helped to create an understanding of the colossal contribution of each employee to the preservation of the environment.
In 2025, the Bank participated in the Smart Plastic Zone program, achieving the GOLD level with a total score of 650. This confirms the high level of employee involvement and the systematic approach of the Bank to sustainable development.
In addition, in the reporting year, the environmental campaign "Clean Office" was conducted in the Central Office, within the framework of which employees organized a general cleaning of workplaces and office premises. Based on the results of the event, waste paper and used batteries were collected and handed over for subsequent recycling.
In addition, as part of the nationwide Taza Qazaqstan initiative, the Bank organised an internal environmental campaign entitled “One Day Without a Car.” Employees were encouraged to refrain from using private vehicles and to choose more environmentally friendly modes of transport, including walking, cycling, public transport and other alternatives.
To increase employee engagement, the campaign was supported through the Bank’s social media channels. A step challenge was also conducted using the StepUp mobile application to promote an active and environmentally responsible lifestyle. Participants competed based on the number of steps taken, and the most active employees received commemorative prizes.
As part of the Bank’s planned activities under its Development Strategy and Development Plan, employees of the Bank’s branches planted 270 saplings across Kazakhstan during the reporting year.
These initiatives contributed to the development of an environmental culture, increased employee awareness of environmental protection issues and promoted a healthy lifestyle.
