Sustainable Development Management

The Bank recognizes the significance of its impact on the economy, the environment, and society to ensure long-term sustainable development. To operationalize this principle, the Bank has adopted a Sustainable Development Policy (hereinafter – the Policy). The Bank's Policy is aligned with international standards, such as the UN Global Compact, the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the AA 1000 Accountability Principles Standard Series, and others, and defines the fundamental norms, principles, rules, and approaches to managing sustainable development. The full version of the Policy is available on the Bank's official website (hcsbk.kz, under the "Sustainable Development / ESG Policies" section).

Sustainable development at the Bank is built upon three pillars: economic, environmental, and social.

The economic pillar focuses on ensuring the stable and efficient performance of the Bank, enhancing investment attractiveness, optimizing processes and expenses, driving innovation, creating new jobs, and upgrading employee qualifications.

The environmental pillar aims to minimize environmental impact, ensure the rational use of resources, reduce energy and water consumption, and implement "green" practices.

The social pillar encompasses compliance with labor rights, ensuring equal opportunities and gender equality, occupational safety, personnel development, as well as the implementation of internal and external social programs.

The Bank ensures the alignment of its economic, environmental, and social goals for long-term sustainable development.

Management of this policy includes a clear allocation of responsibilities across the Bank’s governance levels, as well as the integration of sustainable development principles into strategic planning and operations, highlighting the Bank’s commitment to an integrated approach to managing its impacts on society and the environment.

The Bank implements its environmental and social policies through key institutional frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Policy, the Personnel Policy, the Code of Business Ethics, the Corporate Governance Code, the Environmental Policy Regulations, etc., which ensure compliance with relevant regulatory laws, rules, and partner requirements.

In 2025, the Bank developed and updated a number of key internal regulatory documents governing its sustainable development activities. The Bank's internal documents on sustainable development cover all employees. Employees receive information regarding these documents through the existing notification system, as well as during onboarding. External stakeholders have access to these documents on the Bank's official website (hcsbk.kz) under the "Sustainable Development / ESG Policies" section.

To communicate sustainable development information to stakeholders, the Bank's website features a dedicated section for this area of activity. In certain cases, upon concluding agreements, stakeholders are provided with customized information regarding relevant norms and rules.

Oversight and reporting are carried out through annual sustainability reports, the integration of KPIs into the employee motivation system, regular risk analysis, and monitoring compliance with international disclosure standards. The Bank publishes updates on its initiatives and results on the corporate website, in the annual report, and in the sustainability report, ensuring openness and transparency of its operations.
