Implementation of the Environmental Program

Since the beginning of 2023, the Bank has been implementing the first "green mortgage" program in Kazakhstan, aimed at the acquisition of housing in energy-efficient residential complexes built in accordance with recognized environmental standards. The program contributes to the promotion of environmentally sustainable construction, reduction of negative impact on the environment, and the formation of a comfortable and safe living environment for citizens.

A key condition for participation in the program is the compliance of the acquired housing with a "green standard", confirmed by certification under one of the systems operating in Kazakhstan (OMIR, GOST R, BREEAM, LEED) regardless of the certification level.

The use of eco-friendly building materials, energy-efficient solutions, landscaping and greening of territories, rational development, the ability to regulate the microclimate in apartments, and transport accessibility ensure an increase in the quality of life of clients and a reduction of the ecological footprint.

Also, under this program, the Bank provides reduced loan rates for socially vulnerable segments of the population and military personnel when purchasing or renovating housing in properties with a certificate of at least the "Gold" level. The initiative contributes to the reduction of the ecological footprint and supports social well-being, creating a sustainable future for the Bank's clients and society.

To date, the Bank cooperates with 25 developers throughout the territory of Kazakhstan that comply with environmental construction standards, having concluded memorandums with them. The Bank plans to further actively develop cooperation in this direction.

Information on the results of the implementation of the "green" mortgage program is given in the following table:

In 2025, the Bank allocated its own funds to the "green mortgage" program to maintain its active financing. During the year, the Bank successfully utilized 14.73 billion tenge from the Bank's own funds. As a result, in 2025, within the framework of this program, the Bank provided mortgage loans to 570 clients for 14.73 billion tenge. In total, since the launch of the green mortgage, 1 825 loans have been issued for 46.14 billion tenge. The green mortgage portfolio as of 31.12.2025 amounted to 43.2 billion tenge, and the share of green mortgages of the entire credit portfolio of the Bank was 1.07%.

As part of the recognition of the Bank's contribution to the promotion of sustainable construction in 2025, the Bank was honored with the industry award Green Awards 2025 in the "Landmark Partnership" nomination. The award was presented by the Kazakhstan Green Building Council (hereinafter – KazGBC) within the framework of the anniversary Green Build Central Asia 2025 Forum, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of active operations of KazGBC. The Forum brought together leading representatives of the construction sector, developers, financial institutions, state bodies, universities, and international organizations, while the central event was the award ceremony for industry leaders who made a significant contribution to the promotion of sustainable development and the introduction of the national methodology for environmental assessment of buildings OMIR.

The presentation of the award confirms that the Bank has built a comprehensive approach to supporting sustainable construction, where environmental friendliness becomes just as much a norm as the quality and affordability of housing. The Bank's team has created an environment in which developers receive real incentives to implement energy-efficient solutions, modern materials, and well-thought-out planning solutions that reduce the burden on the environment.

The Bank actively interacts with industry experts and professional associations, supports projects undergoing environmental assessment according to the OMIR methodology, helps to raise industry standards, and shapes demand for eco-friendly homes among future buyers. As a result, the market is changing its behavior, developers are starting to plan projects taking into account green requirements, and clients are increasingly interested in energy efficiency and the quality of the urban environment.

Otbasy Bank highly values the recognition of the professional community and views the award as confirmation of the significance of its work to promote a sustainable approach in the housing policy and construction ecosystem of the country. The Bank will continue to develop partnerships, strengthen environmental requirements for projects, and support initiatives aimed at forming a safe, energy-efficient, and sustainable urban environment.
