Environmental Protection
Due to the nature of its operations, the Bank does not have a direct significant impact on the environment. Due to the nature of its operations, the Bank does not have a direct or significant environmental impact. As noted earlier, the primary resources consumed by the Bank are electricity, thermal energy, and water. The Bank adheres to principles and methods of rational resource use that are best suited to preventing adverse effects on the environment. The Bank is not subject to environmental emission charges, as it operates facilities categorized under Category IV, those with minimal environmental impact.
Nevertheless, the Bank regularly conducts initiatives aimed at raising employee awareness of environmental protection and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards, including fire safety. Annually, employees receive training on the Bank’s environmental policy and the efficient use of energy, water, and other natural resources.
The Bank consistently promotes environmental values and sustainable lifestyles among its staff. As a result, employees have become more informed about the importance of fully powering down computers and electrical devices at the end of the workday, turning off lights, adhering to waste separation principles, and avoiding single-use items. These practices have helped foster a shared understanding of each individual’s significant role in protecting the environment.
In line with its commitment to sustainable development, the Bank organizes various environmental campaigns to support urban greening initiatives and plant trees in the courtyards of new residential buildings constructed in partnership with the Bank. In 2024, Bank employees participated in the global environmental cleanup campaign Turaqty Jol at the Shymbulak mountain resort, collecting 50 kg of waste. The collected plastic bottles, paper, glass, and other debris were carefully sorted and transferred to local recycling companies. Bank employees also joined the nationwide environmental campaign Taza Kazakhstan focused on cleaning and landscaping residential and public spaces, organized by local executive authorities.
Additionally, the Central Office hosted an internal initiative in 2024 titled Clean Office, during which employees conducted deep cleaning at their workstations. As a result, paper waste and used batteries were collected and sent for recycling.
In line with the Bank’s Strategic Development Plan, branch employees planted a total of 350 tree saplings across Kazakhstan during the reporting year.
