The Bank recognizes the importance of its impact on the economy, environment and society to ensure sustainable development in the long term. To implement this principle, the Bank operates under a Sustainability Policy (hereinafter referred to as the Policy). The Bank’s Policy is based on international standards such as the UN Global Compact, the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, the AA 1000 Series of Standards, among others. It outlines the fundamental norms, principles, rules, and approaches to sustainability management. Sustainable development in the Bank consists of three components: economic, environmental and social. The Bank ensures that its economic, environmental and social goals are aligned for sustainable development in the long term. The management of this Policy involves a clearly defined distribution of responsibilities across the Bank’s management levels and the integration of sustainability principles into strategic planning and day-to-day operations, underscoring the Bank’s commitment to a holistic approach in managing its social and environmental impacts.

The Bank’s environmental and social policies are embedded within key institutional documents, including the HR Policy, the Code of Business Ethics, the Corporate Governance Code, and others, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory laws, rules, and partner requirements.

In 2024, the Bank developed and updated a number of key internal regulatory documents governing sustainability-related activities. These internal sustainability documents apply to all employees. They are informed of these documents through the existing notification system as well as during onboarding. External stakeholders have access to these documents on the Bank’s official website at hcsbk.kz in the Sustainable Development / ESG Policies section. To ensure stakeholders are informed about the Bank’s sustainability efforts, the website features a dedicated section focused on sustainability. In certain cases, when contracts are signed, stakeholders are provided with individual information regarding applicable standards and regulations.
