SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024 Turning the Dream of Home into a Goal

Waste Management

As a financial institution, the Bank primarily generates waste in the form of paper, consumables, and decommissioned office equipment. Since 2014, to reduce paper consumption in administrative operations, the Bank has implemented the Documentolog electronic office document management system. This system enabled the automation of all internal document processes, converting business procedures such as document creation, coordination, review, approval, execution monitoring, distribution, search, and archiving into electronic formats. In recent years, the Bank has actively promoted reduced and double-sided printing practices. The Bank has started to use digital forms of holding meetings of collegial bodies/working groups, i.e. without wasting paper, using LED screens, tablets to demonstrate materials – to make an additional contribution to preserving forests and trees and solving the world’s environmental problems. As a result, in 2024 the Bank reduced its paper usage by 15 % compared to 2023 (23,100 reams of paper used in 2024 versus 27,100 reams in 2023)

The Bank has also been implementing a unified policy for solid waste collection and disposal. This includes introducing a separate waste collection system in its facilities, with waste sorted into three categories: glass and metal, plastic, and paper.

In 2024, separate waste collection containers were installed at two Central Office locations (91 Abay Khan Avenue and 98 Karasai Batyr Street) and at the Mangystau Regional Branch. It is noteworthy that the installation of separate waste containers at the Mangystau Regional Branch marked the first instance of such services being provided free of charge in the Bank’s operational history. In 2025, the Bank plans to explore the feasibility of extending this model to other branches.

By the end of 2024, the Bank’s Central Office had delivered 1,720.20 kg of paper; 1,111.70 kg of glass, and 131.06 kg of plastic for recycling and disposal via hydropulping through a secondary raw materials organization.
