How fraudsters operate today: key things every customer should know
6 April 2026
Today, fraudsters increasingly use psychological pressure and customer trust to gain access to people’s money.
How criminals operate:
- they introduce themselves as employees of the Bank, law enforcement agencies or other government authorities;
- they report “suspicious transactions” on your account and a “risk of losing funds”;
- they persuade you to urgently transfer money “for protection” to a “safe account”;
- they ask you to confirm a transaction or provide personal data.
Important to remember:
Bank employees never:
- ask you to disclose your login and password for your personal account in the mobile app;
- ask you to install/download third-party apps to “protect your funds”;
- call customers via WhatsApp.
If you are being rushed, intimidated or urged to take immediate action, this is one of the main signs of fraud.
How to protect yourself:
- do not share personal data with third parties if you receive a call from them;
- do not transfer money at the request of strangers;
- check information only through the Bank’s official channels (the Bank’s official website, call centre);
- if in doubt, end the conversation and contact the Bank yourself.
The main rule: no Bank employee will ask you to carry out transactions to “save” your funds.
Stay vigilant and protect your savings.
